Rally Chile – Media Statement about Thierry Neuville / Nicolas Gilsoul

May 11, 2019 – Hyundai Motorsport crew Thierry Neuville and Nicolas Gilsoul were involved in a accident on the penultimate day of Rally Chile, 13.9km into the 23.09km-long SS8 (Maria Las Cruces).

Their Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC drifted wide at the exit of a corner, and then hit a bank on its left-hand side, and subsequently rolled numerous times. Both driver and co-driver were able to extract themselves from the car without assistance.

Thierry was checked on the spot and required medical assistance. He was taken to the local Concepción hospital by helicopter for detailed examination. At the hospital, it was confirmed that he had suffered no fractures or other injuries. Gilsoul was also advised to go to hospital on precautionary grounds.

The high-speed nature of the crash will prevent the #11 crew from continuing in Rally Chile for the rest of the weekend. They will be back in the championship fight at Rally de Portugal later this month.
